One of the all-time best parts of Geneva is the general melange des langues, a total mix-up of languages within an environment where no one even bats an eye when you can't find the word that you're looking for and instead, within a single conversation, throw in words from three or four different languages. No biggie. They're all understood.

I sometimes kick myself for not having gone to Geneva when I had the chance. My friend Nadia kept bugging me but I was like, "Oh no it's way too expensive for my au pair budget." What was I thinking? Not like London or Paris are any cheaper!
